The popular annual Pattaya Marathon has been cancelled due to Covid-19 measures in place for the second year in a row.
The popular marathon, which normally attracts thousands of runners from around the world and is a major event for the city, bringing millions of baht in estimated sports tourism, will be cancelled said Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunpluem.
The Mayor and marathon organizers expressed regret for the event being cancelled for the second year in a row knowing how many runners and fans enjoy attending the event yearly.
Pattaya City is currently designated a Covid19 red zone in Thailand due to current infections and all events gatherings of over fifty people are banned. As the marathon attracts over ten thousand people yearly, the event was unfortunately a victim of the current restrictions.
